Children and adolescents as targets of violent acts or potential violence victims

Abstract

This project aims to analyze differences in the protection granted to children and adolescents, as well as situations in which they are targets of violent acts or potential victims of violence, with a view to establishing action principles for prevention and health care.Due to the complexity of the study objects, we will strategically carry out 3 subprojects with the following objectives: subproject I - in this subproject, we intend to continue research (Phase I of the project): analyze how child and adolescent violence victims who were subject to legal intervention are reintegrated into the family, as well as these social actors perception of the intervention by legal and other institutions in Jardinópolis-SP and São Carlos, Brazil; get to know and analyze the meaning of family for children and adolescents who are institutionalized at the Child and Adolescent Victim Care Center - CACAV and who were victims of intrafamily violence; analyze the social representations of female sexual exploitation during adolescence from the perspective young female sex workers, who are or were active in prostitution in the North of Ribeirão Preto SP; analyze the notifications of domestic violence against children posted by Basic Health Units in Guarulhos, with a view to identifying the adopted procedures, the limits of professional action, the existing gaps in care and follow-up, the origins and possible consequences of these gaps; get to know and analyze the social representations of child and adolescent victims of sexual violence, which were notified at the Child and Adolescent Referral Center; identify and get to know the profile of a group of homeless children and adolescents under the responsibility of a socio-educational institution, with respect to their exposure to the risks of contamination by HIV and other sexually transmissible diseases, as well as their knowledge on prevention methods; identify, get to know and analyze general aspects of homeless children and adolescents way of life in the institutional, family and health contexts with a view to identifying ways for promoting this group s health...
