Abstract

The DVCA phenomenon has been worrying both social scientists and society in general in last thirty years. Surveys on incidence and prevalence show that domestic violence is a veritable public health, problem which, due to its endemic feature, demands efforts and commitment to establish public and private policies that fight and prevent its different modalities. In Brazil, however, domestic violence prevention strategies are not sufficiently prioritized. To be effective a domestic violence against children and adolescents prevention project must be strategically planned and anchored on a multi-professional, multi-institutional, scientific and emancipator work as well, in addition to taking into account social and historical questions linked to childhood, family and violence. Thus the scope of the current thematic project is to do research work that will help subsidize the preparation of effective DVCA's prevention (physical/sexual) programs, in the city of São Paulo, and will be based on four subprojects. The proposition involves two kinds of research: documental and empiric (quantitative and qualitative). The results obtained from the research are supposed to subsidize the collective production of DVCA prevention programs, amplifying current horizons. (AU)
