Abstract

This research project aims to contribute with a proposal for algorithms for the protection of primary equipment. In particular, the focus is on transmission lines in ac and HVdc, both for the LCC-HVdc topology and the VSC-HVdc topology. The goal is to develop algorithms that use time series analysis techniques, exploring their ability to interpret voltage and current signals and assess the operating conditions of the protected primary equipment. Furthermore, this project aims to contribute to the development of innovative algorithms that eliminate any need for adjustments and information on electrical parameters of the protected primary equipment. This attribute is crucial for the project, commissioning, and operation of protection systems based on these methods, as the elimination of the need for manual adjustments or details about specific electrical parameters significantly simplifies the commissioning process and subsequent operation of protection systems. This brings positive impacts, including the reduction of human errors that often trigger disturbances and interruptions in electrical systems. Thus, this research project not only aims to improve the efficiency and reliability of primary equipment protection systems but also hopes to contribute to mitigating human errors, strengthening the stability and integrity of electrical systems as a whole. By proposing an approach that harmonizes technical accuracy with operational simplicity, this project promises to be a significant advancement in the field of primary equipment protection in electrical systems.
