Deep phenotyping of orofacial pain central mechanisms

Abstract

This proposal of collaboration between the Piracicaba Dental School at the University of Campinas and the University of Washington School of Dentistry aims to facilitate exchange of knowledge and expertise in orofacial pain over a 2-year period. Activities include lectures, joint didactic activities, and research proposal discussions. The schedule includes two scientific missions and quarterly virtual follow-up meetings. The partnership promises to bring significant advancements in the understanding and treatment of orofacial pain. By leveraging the expertise of both institutions and fostering close collaboration, this collaboration aims to make a meaningful impact on research and dentistry education. Through these scientific exchange endeavors, we anticipate developing multicentric research proposals aimed at investigating techniques and methodologies for achieving a deep phenotyping of central mechanisms underlying various types of orofacial pain. Moreover, the planned exchange activities can also improve teaching in orofacial pain for undergraduate and graduate students from both institutions. (AU)
