Abstract
The PRH 47 will be part of a strategy to strengthen research areas focused on the exploration of oil and natural gas, at the UFPE Technology and Geosciences Center, involving two Undergraduate and Postgraduate courses motivated by the construction of LITPEG (Integrated Laboratory in Oil, Gas and Biofuels Technology) which encompasses 12 integrated research laboratories, bringing together around 70 Professors from various Departments of the Technology and Geosciences Centers (CTG) and IT Centers (CIn), carrying out research in the 03 Segments of the Petroleum Production Chain (Exploration, Production and Refining). The undergraduate course in Geology and the Postgraduate Courses in Geosciences and Civil Engineering come together to form this human resources program, which combines the sedimentological characterization of the rock and its simulation and management as a reservoir, as well as the geochemical and biostratigraphic study of rocks generators. It is important to emphasize that in the current exploration scenario, with new perspectives of new exploratory models in pre-salt rocks, carbonates and volcanic rocks, recently characterized in discoveries of oil and natural gas in deep waters in the Equatorial Margin (e.g. Barreirinhas Basin, Ceará, Rio Grande do Norte) and Brazilian Coastal Basins (e.g. Sergipe-Alagoas). On the other hand, the Equatorial Margin is still seen as a new exploratory frontier, given its lack of knowledge and recent studies of the Northeast basins have brought models similar to those positioned on the Equatorial Margin. Hence our interest in studying the petroleum systems of the Northeast basins, as they provide models that we can transpose to these basins. For all these reasons, this new Program will once again focus on training qualified human resources to meet current demands in the region and the country.
