Abstract

PRH 13.1 - "New Technologies Applied to Energy Efficiency in the Oil, Gas, and Biofuels Sector", approved based on public call no. 01/2018/PRH-ANP, continues and expands research and training of human resources on related energy efficiency that had been developed since 2010, within the scope of PRH 38.The concept of energy efficiency is important in all stages of energy production and use, notably those involving Oil, Natural Gas, and Biofuels. Thus, the search for energy efficiency with an emphasis on new technologies, taking into account the principle of economic viability and reduction of environmental impact is the objective of PRH 13.1.To this end, PRH 13.1 has an interdisciplinary faculty, made up of engineers from different areas, chemists, and physicists, working in various lines of research that seek to increase energy efficiency and, at the same time, the training of professionals better prepared for operate in the different segments of the production chain of the Oil, Natural Gas and Biofuels industry, meeting the demands of companies in this vital industrial sector. Specifically, PRH 13.1 - School of Engineering - UFRGS is made up of Materials, Energy, Metallurgical, Mechanical, and Production Engineering, in addition to two postgraduate programs, the Postgraduate Program in Mining, Metallurgical and Materials Engineering (PPGE3M) and the Postgraduate Program in Production Engineering (PPGEP).
