Abstract

Dr. Akio Miyamoto's research group in Japan has several research areas in line with current lines of investigation developed in laboratories in the state of São Paulo and Brazil. Such common interest makes the visit of Dr. Akio Miyamoto from the Obihiro University of Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine, to act as a visiting researcher at the University of São Paulo, Pirassununga campus, in August 2024 relevant. Miyamoto is related to understanding the interactions of the immune system in reproductive processes in bovine females. Miyamoto will use his extensive experience in this area to serve as a research collaborator at USP in the three experiments that make up the project "Modulation of the innate immune response by concept signaling at the beginning of pregnancy in cattle" (FAPESP 2022/14936-7), mainly in analysis of pro- and anti-inflammatory cytokine modulation data. Despite being based in Pirassununga, Dr. Miyamoto will collaborate with other researchers from USP and other institutions in São Paulo in their projects funded by FAPESP, assist in the development of new research proposals, participate in laboratory meetings, visit and contribute with lectures and exchanges experiences in other research locations in the area of animal reproduction in the state. Finally, with Dr. Miyamoto's visit, opportunities for collaboration will be generated between the Obihiro University of Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine and other universities in the São Paulo system, through exchanges of students and researchers and the conduct of collaborative research.
