Abstract
Professor Hani Henein is affiliated with the University of Alberta, where he is actively engaged in teaching and conducting research focused on pipeline steels, metal-matrix composites, and rapid solidification. He collaborates extensively with industry for research purposes and maintains robust international partnerships. As part of his mentorship initiatives, Hani established a program facilitating international work opportunities for undergraduates in distinguished engineering programs across Europe and Japan, successfully facilitating placements for over 80 students since 2002. Notable accolades he has earned include the esteemed Killam Research Fellowship and the Metals Chemistry Award. In his professional service, Hani assumes a leadership role, having served as the President of MetSoc in 1998, a former Editor of CMQ, the President of TMS in 2014, and the President of AIME in 2019. The 20-day visit will involve two research groups, one from DEMa/UFSCar and another from DEMM/UNicamp, working on projects funded by FAPESP and CNPq in the following themes: "Study of the growth of primary AlFe phases in Al alloys and intermetallic layers in Sn-Bi-X/copper joints," "Solidification and evaluation of Al-Si and Mg-Si alloys: 4D microtomography and atomization," and "Interrelationships between thermal parameters/microstructures of solidification, wear resistance, and hydrogen generation in Al-Sn-(Mg;Zn) alloys." The planned activities will include lectures, laboratory visits, technical discussions, and a mini-course. (AU)
