Abstract

One of the main conceptual motivations for this project is the subject of structural non isotropic material in the context of Computational Mechanics. This subject is obviously extensive and complex with different engineering applications. High strength and low density materials are desirable in the design of engineering components and structures in the context of sustainability and low consume energy. The design criteria are in most cases unable to fulfill the structural integrity in a reliable way along the life cycle of products. Even the commercial software of Computer-Aided Design, despite implementing several material constitutive models, has been unable to guarantee the integrity in many practical cases, most of the time due to the limitations of the available models. Therefore, the main conceptual motivation of this research project is subject of material and structural integrity, which is broad and complex.To overcome this difficulty and fill the existing gaps with innovative contributions, we will use the methodology of diffusive interface, also known as phase field methodology, to obtain, analyse and validate mathematical models for the behavior of several material classes, We will develop thermodynamic consistent models and be interested in physical processes with complex phenomena, in particular those ones with the arising and/or evolution of fatigue, damage and fracture from mechanical, thermal and chemical sources.
