Abstract
In this proposal, we aim to explore the physics behind leptogenesis and neutrino mass generation using the broad range of energy scales and environmental conditions offered by astrophysical neutrinos. We introduce the problem of the baryon asymmetry of the universe and the main components that a theory of leptogenesis needs to address this question successfully. The deep connection between leptogenesis and neutrino properties allows one to study the question of baryon asymmetry indirectly through neutrino experiments. We plan to study various neutrino properties, with particular attention to properties related to pseudo-Dirac neutrinos, using supernova and high-energy neutrinos to shed light on the mechanism of leptogenesis. A short review of the current status and prospects of neutrino astrophysics is provided, and expected outcomes are highlighted. This project should add significantly to the motivation and development of the FAPESP project to which this proposal is linked. (AU)
