Abstract

Metabolomics study the quantitative changes in low molecular weight metabolites that occur in biological samples such as biofluids, cells and tissues. Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) and Mass spectroscopy are the two main techniques in metabolomic studies. This request is intended to find the financial support for a short-time visit (15 days, from October 8th to 22th 2023) of Dr. Thelma de Aguiar Pertinhez (Department of Medicine and Surgery, University of Parma, Italy), an expert in NMR-based metabolomics to the Biomembranes group of University of Campinas (Unicamp) in order to: 1) plan future research collaboration in NMR-based metabolomics - free and encapsulated antineoplastics: effects over breast cancer cell lineages - with the applicant (E.P); 2) give practical (hands-on) NMR-based metabolomics classes for graduate students of the " Cellular and Molecular Biophysical Techniques" course; 3) Give the lecture "NMR metabolomics in biological systems" in the "NMR-based metabolomics from cells to clinics" symposium, during the XLVII Annual Meeting of the Brazilian Biophysical Society (XLVII SBBf) at Unicamp Convention Center.
