Abstract

Have access of a historical satellite images database for all of Brazil, monitoring different vegetation cover in different densities and types of soil, allows temporal and spatial patterns to be identified when evaluating vegetation indicators in areas of agricultural and environmental protection. However, because Brazil is located in a tropical zone and is subject to different air masses throughout the year, the presence of clouds is a constant for all Brazilian states at practically all times of the year, but mainly during the of crops, becoming an obstacle for many solutions that intend to use satellite images. Accessing this image history and having it treated in such a way that there are no images with clouds in the history covering the targets of the studies, allows evaluating, for example, the evolution of deforestation areas, as well as the maintenance of environmental preservation areas. It is also possible to follow the development of forest regeneration projects and monitor the conditions of use/coverage of the soil, making it possible to identify over time the evolution of green areas, the health of the crops and the maintenance of environmental preservation areas, contributing with the indicators environmental issues proposed by the ESG agenda.
