Abstract

Currently, the beauty market is undoubtedly one of the fastest growing sectors in the world, remaining unchanged even during periods of economic crisis. The perspective is that this market will reach a turnover of around US$ 863 billion by 2024. According to data from Euromonitor International, Brazil is in fourth place in the ranking of personal care in the world, behind only countries like the United States, China and Japan. Regarding the possible impacts that the pandemic may have on the market, it is asserted that the projection will be for expansion with skin care. Studies have already revealed that 22% of American women have changed their skin care routine due to the pandemic. In the case of the Brazilian market, a similar phenomenon occurred. This positive scenario serves as an incentive for several technological innovations, increasing market demand. Among the world trends, nanotechnology has increasingly involved companies and researchers from the main Brazilian universities. Thus, the company Nderma Pesquisa e Desenvolvimento Ltda was created with the purpose of emphasizing the research and development of dermocosmetics and the nanoencapsulation of its assets, maximizing their performance and protection. Nanocosmetic formulations have superior properties compared to conventional cosmetics, as the ability to deliver the actives in the "nano" form allows them to acquire much more interesting physicochemical and biological properties, including not only the protection of the actives, but also improvements in the skin release and permeation process. In addition to nanotechnology, the world market has also been investing in nanobiotechnology, ensuring that natural actives retain their nutritive and antioxidant properties, but are protected and directed to the target site of action. Thus, considering these trends, the present project consists of developing a formulation of an antioxidant and anti-aging serum containing nanoencapsulated astaxanthin and ferulic acid, the latter when associated with other antioxidants, acts as a stabilizer and complements their antioxidant action. The serum will also feature the addition of a low molecular weight hyaluronic acid. For this, the formulations developed will be characterized physicochemically and, for the analysis of skin release and permeation in this Phase 1, in vitro tests will be carried out, as well as cytotoxicity assays. The combination of two antioxidants, which neutralizes free radicals, in addition to inhibiting the synthesis of melanin, acting as a depigmenting agent, plus the action of an active that stimulates collagen production is an unprecedented dermocosmetic, with characteristics that meet the new demand. market.
