The reclassification of post COVID-19 pandemic travel photography: an experimental study

Abstract

The photographic ecosystem is witnessing transformations not only in format, but also in its own applicability. Such transformations are intense in the period after the COVID-19 pandemic, when limitations related to mobility were compensated by the virtualization of diverse experiences and a communicational complexity gained protagonist status. Based on this phenomenon, this research is proposed, which aims to develop new languages for travel photography, supported by the concepts of transmedia and complex narratives. To this end, methodological activities will be developed that, together, place the project in the quasi-experimental hybrid modality. The project basically results from inquiries obtained through research developed since 2016 by the proponent with support from FAPESP, in projects 2016/09276-7 and 2019/19337-1. The proposal is built on the parameters of the 2030 Agenda, which basically proposes “an action plan for people, for the planet and for prosperity”, in particular to objective 10 – Reducing Inequalities and to objective 11 - Cities and Communities sustainable. With the expected results, it will be possible to develop not only tourism based on imagery narratives, but also to consolidate the role of photography in contemporary media. (AU)
