Annual plan to use financial resources of the Technical Reserve parcel to support institutional infrastructure costs to research

Abstract

The Faculty of Medicine of Jundiaí (FMJ) has completed 53 years of creation (Municipal Law 1506 of March 12, 1968, with the recognition by Federal Decree No. 71656 of January 4, 1973). It stands out as an institution of excellence dedicated to the training of healthcare professionals since its foundation. Currently counting with annual classes of 120 undergraduate students in Medicine. In 2016, the FMJ received a grade of 4 in the National Student Performance Examination (ENADE), consolidating its position among the most respected Medical Education Schools in Brazil.More recently, the FMJ has been investing and encouraging the development of Scientific Research projects, having created an Academic Graduate Program in Health Sciences, approved by CAPES in 2010 and implemented in 2011 (Decree MEC nº1364 / 2011, published in the DOU of 09/30/2011). Initially (2011 to 2016) the Postgraduate program only counted with a Master of Science Course, but in 2017 a Doctoral Course has initiated. At the time of its creation, the FMJ Postgraduate Program received a grade 3 (regular) from CAPES, having obtained a grade 4 (good) in the last four-year evaluation (2018), therefore evidencing its commitment to improving scientific research quality developed in the Institution. Currently, the Postgraduate Program of the FMJ has 20 researchers from different areas (Basic and Clinical), who develop scientific research projects in an integrated way, with the collaboration of other Brazilian (particularly USP and UNICAMP) and International Research Institutions.In addition to the postgraduate research activities, FMJ also encourages the development of Scientific Initiation projects through its Institutional Program for Scientific Initiation Grants (PIBIC) with scholarships funding by the institution itself, and through development agencies such as CNPq and FAPESP.In 2020, a new building exclusive for the development of research and postgraduate studies was completed. Measuring 519.67m2 with a constructed area of 958.11m2 distributed over 3 floors. The construction was carried out using its resources with an investment of approximately R$ 3,340,000.00, having been inaugurated with several multi-user laboratories, facilitating the collaboration between researchers. This new building currently has 2 laboratories for cell culture, 2 multiuser/interdisciplinary laboratories, a laboratory for molecular biology techniques, laboratory for the study of bioagents. These laboratories were set up as a result of the Institution's direct investment and funds from development agencies (CNPq/CAPES and FAPESP). This new building shows the commitment of the FMJ in stimulating the development of Scientific Research and in improving the conditions for its development. In addition to rooms for washing, preparing and sterilizing materials. It also has an amphitheater for classes, lectures, scientific meetings and thesis and dissertation defenses, and rooms for researchers/professors who carry out their research at the institution.
