Abstract

Recently, due to the coronavirus Sars-Cov-2 pandemic, the world witnessed the suspension of classroom teaching. Due to the lockdown time needed to stop the disease from spreading, students of different school grades, their teachers, and sometimes their parents had to adhere to the use of remote learning tools. In this context, a challenge for the design of remote learning tools is the need to engage a great diversity of different users, including students with physical or cognitive disabilities, or very young students, once the right to education is universal. UX methods and techniques may be used along for the development and refinement of guidelines to provide an individualized model for each student, promoting equity in the interaction with the resources available in remote platforms. Therefore, our goal in the current project is the development and evolution of UX technologies to promote the individualization of the user experience during the use of remote learning tools. The project has two phases to allow us to accomplish this: (i) technologies development and (ii) evolution based on empirical results. In the first one, we will execute a systematic literature review and exploratory studies to identify a set of factors needed in remote learning tools, promoting an improved user experience. We aim to develop UX technologies that support these factors in remote learning tools. In the second phase, we will focus on experimental studies to assess and improve the proposed technologies. The expected results are the evolution and the transfer of these technologies, as the identification of empirical evidence about the technologies' use. (AU)
