Developments of X-ray characterization techniques and application in quantitative neuroscience

Abstract

This research project deals with the implementation of a new research activity in the Department of Applied Physics of the Institute of Physics "Gleb Wataghin" at UNICAMP, related to new modalities of characterization by X-rays applied to quantitative neuroscience. One component is the development of techniques, in the parts of instrumentation, data acquisition protocols and signal processing. The other component is the application of these innovative techniques to scientific cases of quantitative neuroscience. It includes techniques to be developed at the Materials Preparation and Characterization Laboratory (LPCM) at UNICAMP: X-ray fluorescenceX-ray diffraction. Finally, in the continuation of the collaboration with the Brazilian Synchrotron Laboratory in Campinas, we participate to the development of a technique requiring coherent synchrotron sources: Plane wave coherent diffraction imaging.
