Development of antimicrobial agents in liquids treated by atmospheric pressure plasmas

Abstract

Cold atmospheric pressure plasma jets will be applied for the incorporation of oxygen and nitrogen containing species into liquids such as water, eugenol and carvacrol. Since such species are highly reactive, it is expected to confer antimicrobial properties to the treated media. In this way, we intend to develop solutions that can contribute to the reduction of the serious problems caused by microbial resistance to currently available biocidal agents. (AU)
