Abstract

There are several difficulties with radiotherapy planning (Cancer) in our country, as few hospitals have complete solutions for radiotherapy planning. The actual positioning of the regions at the time of treatment is often done by hand. After positioning with planning and contouring tools, periodic validation of patient positioning on the LINAC (Linear Accelerator) treatment stretcher is required. This action is important to maintain the Safety and Quality of the radiotherapy treatment process, because the patient during treatment may have body changes such as weight loss, swelling, peristaltic movements that may change the correct positioning at the time of the radiotherapy session. Recently the Ministry of Health, through the RDC No. 20 requires in item 4.29 that it is necessary: "Verification film: radiographic image obtained in telerapy equipment in order to verify the correct positioning of the planned radiation field in relation to the Anatomy of the patient. Also called the portal movie. " For external radiotherapy (teletherapy) weekly is the correct periodicity to make the portal according to the DRC. Therefore, it is necessary to build a solution to increase the precision and improvement of the radiotherapy treatment process in public and private hospitals in Brazil, creating a 100% national alternative with local technical support services.
