Resource Application Program of FAPESP Institutional Technical Reserve to the FAMERP LMU

Research projects are developed at the Faculdade de Medicina de São José do Rio Preto - FAMERP. These projects are related to the existing lines of research, which composed the Post-graduation Program's concentration areas. These projects are related to various areas within the Departments. Currently, our research infrastructure is located in Block U-6, built with financial support obtained from the FINEP (Financier of Studies and Projects). In the area of 2,310 m² 1st floor labs are installed and in full operation, including the Multiuser's Lab (LMU). FAMERP Multiuser's Lab comprises infrastructure and equipment for research activities and the production of knowledge and technologies that meet the needs of its scientific community. This Research Center is called Multiuser Laboratory, because it is open to the community of researchers who undertake research in various areas of knowledge, such as cellular and molecular biology, biochemistry, genetics, virology, microbiology, pathology, and clinical area among others. The multiuser laboratory equipment has been granted by research funding agencies to FAMERP's faculty attached to the Associate Directorate of Research. The researchers have held the office of the Multiuser's Project Coordinators. Currently, FAMERP's Multiuser Lab gathers equipment of important scientific relevance for the development of quality research in the country, such as equipment that performs HPLC, Luminometer, Flow Cytometry, qRT PCR, Fluorescence Microscope, Microtome, Purification Water System, Ultra freezer (-80°C), among others. Thus, there is a need to invest in groundbreaking methodologies in the Multiuser Lab. It is also necessary to establish approaches, which improve the practice of research, teaching, and extended education of the institution. This way, FAMERP can reach a most prominent place on search in the country. It is appropriate to emphasize that FAMERP's expansion in teaching, research, and extended education activities are possible only with obtaining financing to purchase of laboratory and adequacy of their infrastructure equipment. It is appropriate to emphasize that the FAMERP's activities expansion in teaching, research, and extended education are possible only with the support of financing agencies in order to purchase laboratory equipment and adequacy of substructure. Thus, in this proposal it was verified the need to obtain two small-sized equipment, consumption materials and maintenance services. Accordingly, FAMERP has chosen to apply the amount from the FAPESP's Institutional Technical Reserve 2019 (base year 2018) for the acquisition of a Qubit (to compose a New Generation Sequencing Platform that is being purchased from FINEP) and an Ice Machine (since the equipment the LMU has is no longer functioning even after performing various Corrective Maintenance). In addition, maintenance services and consumer material will be required to keep equipment operating properly. So, by doing this, we guaranteed a continuous process of adequacy of the Multiuser laboratory for a widespread use of users. The aim of the proposal entitled "Resource Application Program of FAPESP Institutional Technical Reserve to the FAMERP LMU" is to make it more accessible to the entire scientific community of the institution, as well as to the Hospital de Base and other research centers. Therefore, FAMERP becomes a reference in research with combining strategies in Research and Post-Graduate Studies, resulting in greater academic interaction and extension services to the community.
