Solution of interaction with dynamic architectural models of visual high realism in devices with limited computational capacity

Abstract

Nowadays, tablets and smartphones are part of everyday life. Therefore, they have huge relevance in the marketing and sales of products. Real estate marketing exploits this potential, though precariously due to network limitations and restricted performance of the devices. Real estate developments are now being promoted on mobile devices as low-quality 3D applications when compared to the realism provided by a high-end computer. The interaction provided is also poor, usually restricted to limited movements without interactivity with the environment (such as moving and changing furniture, changing decorations, etc.). The Customer Development process underway by Sureale has reinforced the potential for commercial success of a product that exceeds the aforementioned limitations. The Sureale Solution consists of producing dynamic, interactive and highly realistic 3D and VR real estate and furniture models, which are kept in a growing database. We use cloud-based GPUs and game engines to create products, similar to cloud games, with these models. The products are delivered to users by streaming services and through different platforms, such as smartphones (with or without VR viewers), tablets, notebooks, desktops, televisions, without requiring high processing and storage capacity. Optionally the games can be executed in local machines, without connection to the Internet, and also delivered through professional VR visualizers. The video available at https://youtu.be/5cImqXa0fDk demonstrates the Sureale Solution achieved with PIPE stage 1 prototype. A Sureale Service allows the free navigation by the 3D model of a property, the free visualization and the interaction with decoration and furniture. This version does not provide yet the fundamental elasticity for the simultaneous attendance of an indeterminate number of clients. In Phase 2 we intend to transform the prototype into a product ready for market, incorporating important properties not available yet, such as elasticity and others. We intend also to better explore the technology developed by adding interesting features, making the product even more attractive and increasing the distance from possible competitors. Initially we will focus on a simple business model, but with potential for good results. We provide 3D models of decorated apartments or furniture showrooms for the purpose of marketing. Monetization occurs with the game production process (partially outsourced service) and with packets for viewing and interactions periods. The results obtained in Phase 1 prove the technical feasibility of the product. The interest shown by relevant real estate companies are also an enormous stimulus for us. We believe it is not very much difficult entering the market as our product, besides being able to offer everything that other companies offer as 3D, VR and AR services, offers, what we consider to be our flagship, cloud gaming service that simultaneously provides intriguing interactivity , mobile access, excellent realism, and great usability. The timing of our market entry with cloud gaming, the synergy we are exploring between the real estate and furniture markets, and more complex business models involving targeted marketing, e-commerce, and personalization are all favorable factors in keeping us competitive.
