COVID-19 pandemic in the interior of São Paulo State: Coronavirus diagnostic availability

Abstract

This work plan presents the proposal to create the conditions for the laboratory diagnosis of Corona virus, in the face of the emergence of the Pandemic COVID-19. This identification will be carried out at the Molecular Biology Laboratory, existing in the Hospital das Clínicas of the Botucatu Medical School and Botucatu Medical School, UNESP. The execution of this plan will allow: 1. Identification of a greater number of patients with a positive laboratory diagnosis for the coronavirus; 2. Analysis of epidemiological surveillance in the region, by comparing municipalities with different crisis management strategies; 3. Construction of a baseline for patients and health professionals, enabling follow-up studies; 4. Conducting analysis by mathematical modeling. The decision to invest in this action was approved by the Congregation on 03/27/2020, unanimously. This plan was developed jointly with the team of the Molecular Biology Laboratory at FMB, which has the participation of several professionals in an inter-unit action, under the coordination of Prof. Rejane Grotto.
