Photobiomodulation therapy in strength training and detraining in humans

Abstract

Prof. Jan Magnus Bjordal will participate in the research project in progress (FAPESP Regular Research Grant Project number 2018 / 21982-0), which is funded by FAPESP, whose objective is to evaluate the ergogenic effects of PBMT in the detraining period after a strength training protocol. A randomized, placebo-controlled, triple-blind clinical trial will be carried out in the study. It will be analyzed muscle strength and structural properties of the quadriceps muscle. The participation of Prof. Bjordal will be of enormous value, since Prof. Bjordal, in addition to being one of the world's leading specialists in Photobiomodulation therapy / low-level laser therapy (see http://expertscape.com/ex/laser+therapy%2C+low-level), is also an expert in ultrasound, image evaluation technique that we will be in the initial stage of implantation in our research group through the aforementioned research project.Prof. Bjordal will also participate in the daily activities of the laboratory, as well as in the weekly meetings of the research group, and in the discussions related to ongoing research projects in the host group in Brazil, which will make a tremendous contribution in the training of students of scientific initiation, masters' degree, PhD and postdoctoral fellows.The visit of Prof. Jan Magnus Bjordal will represent another step in consolidating the existing international partnership and in the exchange of researchers and students among the research groups led by Prof. Bjordal in Norway and by Prof. Leal Junior in Brazil (responsible for this proposal) and it will also strengthen the internationalization of the Postgraduate Program in Rehabilitation Sciences of UNINOVE.
