Identification of parameters in nano-plates

Abstract

In this project we propose the mathematical analysis of nanoplate equations and the analysis of two inverse problems associated with them. We will investigate the possibility of uniquely identifying the distribution of the field of forces and the mass distribution along them. Both problems are new and mathematically important. The importance of the first problem lies in the fact that it is through forces that energy enters into the system. The second problem even has applications in the pharmaceutical industry. The visiting researcher who participates in this work is Professor Antonino Morassi of the Università degli Studi di Udine (Italy), who is one of the most prominent scientists in the area of inverse problems related to the mechanics of solids.
