Abstract

This document motivates and details the activities for the visit of Prof. Daniel Panario (on sabbatical leave from Carleton University, Canada) to UNICAMP's Institute of Computing (IC-UNICAMP), where he will be hosted by this project's proponent, Prof. Ricardo Dahab. The visit is initially planned for four months, starting on October 1st. At Unicamp, Professor Panario will be involved in research collaboration with Professor Ricardo Dahab and other researchers, including Profs. Júlio López, Sueli Costa and Marcelo Firer, all part of a current Fapesp's Thematic Project, "Security and Reliability of Information: Theory and Applications''. Prof. Firer is the project's main coordinator. Profs. Costa and Dahab are principal researchers. Activities will include participation in the Graduate Program in Computer Science, through co-supervision of graduate students, giving research talks, participating in research seminars, giving short courses, and being involved in the overall activities of the group. He will also take part in future joint projects and events, which will also be the subject of meetings during his visit. In addition to the research activities at Unicamp, Professor Panario plans short visits and talks at several research centers of the state and of the country. These locations include the StateUniversity of São Paulo, both at São Carlos and São Paulo city, as well as universities in Brazil where Professor Panario has former PhD students and co-authors. Cities include Apucarana, Belo Horizonte, Florianópolis, Rio de Janeiro and Recife. Former PhD students now professors in Brazil include Profs. Juliano Bandeira Lima and José Neto (UFPE), Prof. Rodrigo Martins (UTFPR-Apucarana), and postdoc Dr. Lucas Reis (USP-São Carlos).Main senior research collaborators in Brazil include Profs. Ricardo Custódio (UFSC), Herivelto Borges (USP-São Carlos) and Luciane Quoos (UFRJ). (AU)
