Abstract

Currently there is no domestic gas oven commercialized in Brazil that utilizes a swirl flame. In the tests performed during the PHASE 1 of this project, using simple burner prototypes, the use of swirlers resulted in an energetic efficiency of 71%. This value is 6% above the most efficient in the Brazilian market (67%) (71/67 is 1.06).To improve the models that presented the highest efficiency, it new burners designed based on results of computational thermo fluid dynamics are proposed based on those developed in PHASE 1. The numerical modelling has the potential of providing a high increase of efficiency. This will allow design with adjustment of the air/fuel ratio, reduction of CO, and optimization of heat transfer to the pan. To make feasible the technology transfer and the production in commercial scale, there is the need to investigate the manufacturing processes to adequate the model format to current fabrication equipment and available technologies in the country so that fabrication becomes possible at a low cost. Finally, a study of the market will be carried out, considering the gains obtained from a burner with at least 71% of efficiency. (AU)
