Abstract

The aim of this project is to study some universal phenomena in strongly interacting systems e to verify if they are still present in reduced dimensions. One convenient model to perform this study is the NJL model for QCD, which despite for its simplicity describes very well the phenomenon of chiral symmetry breaking and the phase transition from the Wigner-Wyel phase to the Nambu-Golstone phase as the coupling between the fermions gets more intense. A similar study can also be done for Bose-Einstein condensates through the solution of the Gross-Pitaevskii equation. Even though the scales and systems are very different, in both cases we have a common ingredient which is a contact interaction used as an aproximation for more complex interactions between quarks or atoms. And the same scenario applies to the study of nuclear matter when the degrees of freedom are nucleons. Apart from these studies, we plan to conclude some works that were started in previous projects a to apply the three-body codes developed recently in hadronic, nuclear and atomic physics problems.
