The latest use of optical coherence tomography (OCT) with angiography evaluation (OCTA) has allowed the visualization of the microcirculation in both the retina and the optic nerve head (ONH), as well as its relationship with all retinal layers. OCTA studies have shown a reduction in vascular density in some retinal diseases, including findings of decreased perfusion in patients with glaucoma. Besides, several factors have been associated with deformations of the lamina cribosa and other CNO and peripapillary tissues, such as increased intraocular pressure and, recently, horizontal eye movements.Considering that the retinal microvasculature may be altered by local mechanical factors, this study aims to verify potential vascular and retinal nerve fiber changes detected by OCT and OCTA in healthy and glaucomatous patients in normal conditions and also during horizontal eye movements and increased intraocular pressure.Our findings may help elucidate the physiopathological relationship between mechanical events and axonal loss in glaucoma. The results obtained will also suitable for publication in high quality referred journals with prominent international indexing. In addition, this project will involve the participation of undergraduate and postgraduate students, preparing them for both research development and critical scientific thinking. (AU)
