Foods like as rice, corn and common beans are primary sources of nutrients, being among the most important in the diet of the Brazilian population besides presenting products with high nutritional value. The Western region of the São Paulo State has adequate edaphoclimatic conditions for the development of rice cultivation. Researches with the use of Azospirillum brasilense in grass-plot are recent and present great use potential because they show gains in yield and/or possibility reduction of nitrogen fertilizer dosages. In this sense, research seeking information on adaptation of upland rice genotypes allied to the use of inoculant are strategies for environmental preservation besides strengthening the regional economy. Based on the assumption, the present work has the objective of evaluating the adaptation of upland rice genotypes to the cultivation conditions of West Paulista as well as to associate strategies of Azospirillum brasiliense use. The evaluations will occur at the Experimental Farm of the São Paulo State University, Campus de Dracena. Monitoring will be performed for period of flowering and maturation of panicles; vegetative characterization of plants, evaluation of fresh and dry matter production of aerial part; nutritional status of genotypes, monitoring of chlorophyll content; evaluations of production components and grain yield, as well as determination of the nutritional levels of macro and micronutrients in the grains. The mean data, of the evaluated characteristics, will be submitted to analysis of variance by F test, and the means compared by the Skott Knott test to 5% using the Genes computational package. (AU)
