High performance of the microalgae grown Nannochloropsis oculata and bioenergetic research of algae in paste

Abstract

The microalgae are generally utilized as primarily element to stablish the first step as initial source in the food chain at the aquaculture field. The big advantage on the use of this marine microalgae over the others unicellular algae is that, those ones produces a lot of elements, big quantities of fat acids and lipids, besides sugars and pigment. It has a high biotechnological potential because of the specifically composition on fat acids. Some organisms called zooplankton as rotifers, that consume basically those microalgae in it´s life cycle, serve´s as a bomb of fat acids to inject it directly on the marine organisms on they first live faze. Now a days the breeding of large quantities of microalgae to support the food chain is a big problem, in reason of it´s delicate system of production, that needs to be kept free of pathogens. The most of the times, the main business of the aquaculture productor is not to breed the algae, it is only to breed the fish, but the algae production is necessary to keep the fish facility. Besides that, a lot of systems of marine animals' production are not capable of keeping the algae production during the hole year because of the weather changes. Our objective is to increase the efficiency on the cultivation of the microalgae Nannochloropsis oculata, as a potential product. Capable of replace the common "fresh" algae breeding to a concentrate biomass called by AquaSmart of: "Algae in Paste". Our intention in this project is to investigate and optimize the growing of the microalgae used in aquaculture, and analyse the composition of the algae paste in it´s fat acids trough bioquimicals tests. As it was suggested by the FAPESP accessor on the first phase of this project. We will also adjust the tank systems to bigger cultivations forms, evaluating different parameters to improve our capacity on the acquisition of our final product. (AU)
