Abstract

We propose in this project a systematic study of the electrochemical synthesis of self-organized nanostructured metallic multilayers based on controlling methodologies in nonlinear chemical dynamics. This contribution can rationalize the kinetic mechanisms responsible for the spontaneous formation of chemical architectures in micro and nanoscale in addition to the creation of novel materials with unprecedented properties. The workplan is summarized in four steps: (a) mapping the experimental conditions where self-organized metallic multilayers are electrochemically synthetized; (b) development of algorithms for adaptive control in real time and the respective application in the experiments in order to control thickness and chemical composition; (c) physical characterization of the resulting material and the concomitant correlation between mechanistic aspects with nonlinear dynamics; (d) evaluation of the nanostructured materials upon storage and energy conversion applications. The synergic combination of the expertise of both proponents of this project will facilitate a nonconventional strategy to synthesize nanostructured materials in electrochemical systems. As an additional outcome, a long-term joint cooperation will be strengthened. (AU)
