Co-regulatory studies onto mitochondrial ribosome biogenesis and cytochrome oxidase assembly

Abstract

The assembly of the mitochondrial respiratory complexes depends on proteins encoded by two different genomes, an unique situation in human cells that arise our interest on regulatories mechanisms involved in the proper steichiometric assembly of the respiratory complexes. Here, we propose to study a possible regulatory interconnection between cytochrome c oxidase (COX) assembly and the mitoribosome. Interactions of COX assembly factors, such as Cox14p and Coa3p, with mitoribosome proteins (e.g. mL38) will be explored through pull down assays in different mutant variants of these genes. (AU)
