Abstract

The visit of Prof. Dr. Moshe Fischer, emeritus professor at the University of Tel Aviv at the MAE-USP is composed of three stages: 1) To teach a postgraduate course entitled: Cultural Interactions in the Eastern Mediterranean and in the Land of Israel in Greco-Roman times. The postgraduate course will focus on the study of reciprocal cultural influences between the eastern and western sides of the Mediterranean, seeking to convey to the students of the MAE a cultural, artistic, archeological and historical dynamic that permeates several centuries of dynamic contacts between peoples. 2) Participate in three research seminars in the area of Archeology and History of Ancient Israel: Hellenistic period, early Roman, late Roman and Byzantine. In the three research seminars, the teacher will act as a guide on projects developed in the Museum of Archeology and Ethnology - USP, giving advice to students who work with the Roman presence in the eastern provinces and support to the teachers and students of LARP about their respective projects. It is expected, also, with the presence of Prof. Dr. Moshe Fisher, to broaden the discussion with a Roman presence specialist in Israel, as well as expand our dialogue with Tel Aviv University in an internationalization effort of Classical Archeology at the USP Archaeological Museum. 3) Minister Lecture: Marble, art and architecture in ancient Israel: a history of material culture. The theme of the lecture is the analysis of the importance of marble in Israel's art, architecture, archeology and history, because through the various objects produced in this material one can measure cultural aspects experienced in this part of the ancient world.
