The main objective of this proposal is to perform a deeply structural study in amorphous materials by Solid State Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) technique. The activities proposed involve the development and structural characterization of the following materials: i) Study of glasses and glass ceramic materials based on phosphate and fluorophosphate with potential application in photonics. These glasses have low phonon energy, and consequently better optical properties and low non-radiative relaxation for the samples doped with rare earth ions (RE). Interest on these glass systems is based on the understanding of their optical properties. In fact, the combination of NMR and optical spectroscopies defines a comprehensive integrated spectroscopic strategy to obtain important quantitative information in the short- and medium-range order of the glass network. ii) The second research field consists of the structural study in hybrid materials prepared from the sol gel process for the production of objects prepared by additive by manufacture (MA), known as 3D printing, and in collaboration with others partners included in this proposal. The focus of these nanostructured materials is on the study of surface properties as well as the molecular structure, dynamics and reactions of the adsorbed species. Understanding the nature of the processes responsible for the formation of organic and inorganic compounds can be monitored by NMR spectroscopy. The hydrolysis and condensation reactions can be monitored, allowing the understanding the dynamics reaction process involved, as well as the processes that involve the elimination of the organic phase. Liquid and solid state NMR will allow the study of the nature of these interactions. (AU)
