Management Program of the RTI of FAMERP to the Multiuser Laboratory

Abstract

Several research projects are developed at the Faculdade de Medicina de São José do Rio Preto - FAMERP. These projects are related to the existing lines of research, which composed the Post-graduation Program's concentrations areas. These projects are related to various areas within the Departments of FAMERP. Currently, our research infrastructure is located in Block U-6, built with financial support obtained from the FINEP (Financier of Studies and Projects). In the area of 2,310 m² 1st floor labs are installed and in full operation, including the Multiuser's Lab (LMU). FAMERP Multiuser's Lab comprises infrastructure and equipment for research activities and the production of knowledge and technologies that meet the needs of its scientific community. This Research Center is called Multiuser Laboratory, because it is open to the community of researchers who undertake research in various areas of knowledge, such as cellular and molecular biology, biochemistry, genetics, virology, microbiology, histology, pathology, and clinical area among others. The multiuser laboratory equipment has been granted by research funding agencies to FAMERP's faculty attached to the Associate Directorate of Research. The researchers have held the office of the Multiuser's Project Coordinators. Since 2014, the LMU of FAMERP has acquired equipment using grants from the RTI of FAPESP and other agencies, under the responsibility of the Coordinator of the Multiuser Laboratory. Currently, FAMERP's Multiuser Lab gathers equipment of important scientific relevance for the development of quality research in the country, such as equipment that performs HPLC, Luminometer or MagPix, Flow Cytometry, qRT PCR, Fluorescence Microscope, Microtome, Purification Water System, Image Capture System, Ultra freezer, among others. It is also necessary to establish approaches, which improve the practice of research, teaching, and extended education of the institution. This way, FAMERP can reach a most prominent place on search in the country. It is appropriate to emphasize that FAMERP's expansion in teaching, research, and extended education activities are possible only with obtaining financing to purchase of laboratory and adequacy of their infrastructure equipment. It is appropriate to emphasize that the FAMERP's activities expansion in teaching, research, and extended education are possible only with the support of financing agencies in order to purchase laboratory equipment and adequacy of substructure. For this proposal, we identified the need to obtain consumption materials and maintenance services, to continue investing in LMU equipment's. Thus, FAMERP opted to apply the funds relating to FAPESP's Institutional Technical Reserve 2018 (2017 base year) for the purchase of maintenance services (for Maintenance of Equipment requiring annual or semi-annual assistance) and Consumables to keep the equipment running for a period of one year. Thus, the aim of the proposal entitled "Management Program of the RTI of FAMERP to the Multiuser Laboratory" is to make it more accessible to the entire scientific community of the institution, as well as to the Hospital de Base and other research centers. Therefore, FAMERP becomes a reference in Research and Post-Graduate Studies, resulting in greater academic interaction and extension services to the community. (AU)
