ARTattoo: augmented reality tattoos creation platform

Abstract

Proposal of a research project for technical feasibility aiming at the creation and development of a social platform for the elaboration and availability of artistic content in augmented reality related to body modification. We propose the ARTattoo Platform (reads: AR-Tatu) a collective online environment in website format and in the application format of navigation for mobile devices (Android / iOS) and Hololens glasses, which will allow the integration of virtual information under the surface of the skin on tattooed bodies. The investigations are based on practical laboratory experiments carried out by the researcher responsible PhD. Camila Hamdan from the year 2006 at the Laboratory of New Technologies in Visual Arts - NTAV coordinated by PhD Diana Domingues and Artecno group, in particular, related to Living Tattoos (2006-2008). Subsequently practical actions and theoretical studies covered the dissertation under the guidance of PhD Suzete Venturelli (2009) and PhD under the guidance of PhD Bia Medeiros, both defended in the line of research in Art and Technology of the Postgraduate Program in Art of the University of Brasilia - UnB. Theoretical studies and practical actions were carried out in the field of artistic performance using the technology of augmented reality and tattooing obtaining in the year 2016 the formalization of the company ARBrazil (actual MXR: Art and Technology) based startup incubated at the Center for Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Technology - CIETEC at the University of São Paulo - USP. In order to do so, we the present proposal that aims to carry out methodological actions of interdisciplinary research for the elaboration of technical report of feasibility in Research, Development and Innovation (RDI), with the participation of CIETEC mentors, Associate Researchers and collaborators. Among the strategies to be investigation: a) the tracking of moving data of tattoos that act as fiducial markers, recognition codes for webcam and cellcam from the ARtoolKit SDK, open source code; b) creation of layout for social platform (web / mobile interface design); c) sending, storing and interacting hypermedia files (text, video, sound, 3D); d) artificial intelligence system in augmented reality using IBM Watson; e) legal analysis: terms of use, privacy policy, cookie notice, trademark registration and / or patent; f) Integration with Hololens augmented reality glasses; g) Elaboration of Business Plan.
