Abstract

Improving efficiency by reducing friction of contacting surfaces is a world trend and the evaluation of low friction coatings for gears under boundary lubrication conditions is an ongoing research at the LFS. Then, the main objective of this project is to improve our knowledge and collaboration with international groups in coatings Tribology. To accomplish this task, Prof. Doll will stay during two weeks in LFS to give a course on coatings tribology, including a participation on TriboBr conference (http://tribobr2018.org) as an invited speaker and as a co-author of the work "Tribological performance of Ti:MoS2 coating under high pressure contact fatigue tests" to be presented at this event. During prof. Doll stay discussions will be carried on the deposition and application of low friction coatings, being focused on the improvement of efficiency of gears and bearings. In addition, the LFS lab presents most of tribometers and infrastructure to conduct tribolological tests and wear characterization of coatings, however coatings tribological behavior requires more understanding. Therefore, this visit can improve knowledge in coatings as well as the collaboration at LFS to understand and improve methodologies for evaluation of coatings. (AU)
