A model-driven approach for mobile and web applications, regarding accessibility and interoperability


Software applications have become vital in people´s daily lives. Consequently, the accessibility of these applications also increased in importance. Developing applications which are accessible also for handicapped users can be difficult, tedious, and error-prone. Using model-driven software development (MDSD) techniques, a generator can transform a high-level description of an application into code which ensures the accessibility for all users. This simplifies the development of accessible software enormously, including its connection to back-end services.Here, we present a project to compose a collaborative network of experienced researchers on both Web accessibility and MDSD. Our goal is to strengthen our collaborative network and create MDSD solutions that enable the easy development of accessible Web applications and apps for mobile devices. This project involves researchers from the University of Münster (WWU), Germany, the University of São Paulo (USP), and the Federal University of São Carlos (UFSCAR). It presents a description of how the principal investigators in the universities intend to prepare a joint research project, resulting from exchanging activities, to create a medium-long-term collaboration.
