Abstract

Music plays a key role in establishing communication skills as t is a powerful tool for conveying emotion and identifying emotional clues. The literature describes the need to use both subjective and objective measures to evaluate musical perception and appreciation in cochlear-implanted children. Several tests that evaluate different aspects related to musical perception are proposed internationally. However, few instruments are standardized in the Portuguese language and applicable in the clinical routine. This study aims to update the Assessment of Traditional Melody Recognition in Children (ARMTC) test, verify its applicability to evaluate musical perception in hearing-impaired children users of cochlear implant (CI) and make the online test available to Audiology professionals. A cross-sectional clinical study will be developed over a period of 24 months in the Department of Speech Therapy of Bauru School of Dentistry of the University of São Paulo (USP), following the steps: update of the ARMTC test and its application in hearing-impaired children users of cochlear implant.
