RTI 2017 : Annual Application Plan of Technical for Institutional Infrastructures for Research

Abstract

The Institutional Development Plan of UNIFESP (PDI 2016-2020) established that research activities should prioritize interdisciplinary and multiuser projects, with innovative characteristics and with high intellectual, social and economic impact. To achieve these objectives, the implementation plan of the RTI UNIFESP was developed with the participation of the Postgraduate and Research Chambers of each University Unit (UU), including São Paulo, Santos, Diadema, São José dos Campos, Guarulhos and Osasco that make up the various Unifesp Campi. Once the priorities were established, the resources were distributed in proportion to the contribution amount according to the set of researchers for each UU for the calculation of the RTI. In each Chamber, the main needs of the UU were determined, prioritizing the multiuser equipment, as well as the services or support necessary for the operation of the multiuser and strategic platforms for the development of research. One of the eligibility criteria, in the case of adaptations of the laboratories, was the presentation of a certificate from the Engineering Department of the Institution confirming its feasibility. Another criterion, in the case of acquisition of equipment, besides its justified necessity was the absence of equivalent equipment in the University or UU. The proposals presented by each Chamber were discussed at the Postgraduate and Research Council after verification of the absence of items not allowed, in accordance with the FAPESP specific policy. The distribution of resources was as follows: a) 30% for proposals forwarded by the team of the Postgraduation Office, aiming to attend emergency situations and the costs for maintenance of infrastructure for common fieldwork at all campuses; b) 70% for proposals sent by the Postgraduate and Research Chambers (PGPq) of each UU, after evaluation of all the proposals sent by the researchers, for equipment or services for multi-user laboratories. The priority decision was based on the following criteria: shared facilities, inability to obtain funds from other sources and potential impact of the research projects to be developed in multi-user centers. The items requested were considered the most relevant for the maintenance of laboratories in common use. The Rector's Office has prioritized innovative approaches and high-level projects in the various research areas. In some areas we already have a strong tradition, such as in Health and Biological Sciences, in others, however, we are expanding as in Human Sciences, Exact Sciences, Environmental and more recently, Petroleum and Marine Institute in Santos. Therefore, the allocation of resources was based on the main needs of the University regarding research infrastructure, in the short, medium and long term. Consumption materials, essential for the maintenance and modernization services will also be acquired to support several groups of research. With regard to the 30% under the responsibility of the direct decision of the Pro-Rectorate of Graduate Studies and Research, the priority will be given to the maintenance of equipment or laboratories; support to the Institutional Office for Researcher Support and scientific dissemination as well as the acquisition of Software to support the activities of the Academic Integrity Office that works with ProPGPq. Supporting events will also be supported, such as the Forum of Researchers, the Forum of Post-Doctors that enables space for discussion and partnerships in research and innovation. The resources will also be used to support the publication of journals (including diagramming, editing, printing and electronic publishing), including ENTRETESES, a journal designed to promote research development at UNIFESP nationally and internationally. The Institutional Datacentres will be enhanced to support the new Data Management of the UNIFESP in order to improve the data acquire and processing. (AU)
