Abstract

Aspergillus species are excellent friends of humans but also terrible foes. They are responsible for more than 200,000 cases of invasive aspergillosis per year. The host laboratory has recently identified 10 clinical isolates as A. nidulans and is performing the characterization of their genome. This proposal aims to bring together the expertise of both laboratories to perform a deeper characterization of these isolates. In addition, the visitor is bringing 9-10 new clinical isolates, which will be included in the study to broaden our knowledge of the differences between clinical and non-clinical isolates. We expect that this will allow us to deepen the current knowledge of what makes a microorganism pathogenic. (AU)
