Process of vitroceramics with zirconia concentration gradient YTZP


Development of dental ceramics is an aspect explored enough at literature, because the search of improvement about its characteristics is constant. Crack, delamination, chipping and catastrophic fratures are failures most found in lithium disilicate, alumina and zirconia crowns. The difference at this ceramic materials is fracture resistance during strain process, across esthetic element. As of natural teeth anatomy that present linear graduated transition at dentin to enamel, it arise bioinspired materials with functionally graded at multilayers wich present better stress distribution. According to requirement of development of new ceramics materials that show better performance in the long term, the aim of this project is enable the manufacturing lithium disilicate glass ceramic reinforced by yttria stabilized tetragonal zirconia (YTZP), in order to provide a new dental bioinspired material, that can be used in metal free prosthetics restorations with improved safety. Methodology: A mixture of oxide according to certain stoichiometry will be homogenize and it will be submit to melt temperature. After cooling, it wil be get frits which will be grind, process and pass to thermal treatment. Firstly, 1%, 2% and 3% YTZP homogeneous reinforced glass ceramics will be synthesized and characterized by uniaxial pressing and gel-casting techniques. Later, YTZP gradients will be synthesized, formed by layers of 1%, 2% and 3% of YTZP, through the technique that presents higher mechanical strength, higher density and lower porosity. The samples with and without functionally graded will be characterize by x-ray diffraction, SEM. It will be to mechanical tests of stiffness, biaxial flexure, Weibull analysis, fracture toughness, Young´s modulus and fractography. The relevants parameters will be used also at in silico testing. The results will be compared by statistics and it will evaluate about mechanical performance. The color graphics resulting by FEA will be analyzing to understanding the biomechanical behavior of the material. (AU)
