Abstract

Journalism has been taken as social and cultural praxis and it has been observed in urban space (ROVIDA, 2015). This approach demands an analysis of individuals and context as part of a specific communication processes. In general, it implies the contemporary urban space that seems to be an important scenario for journalistic mediation. To observe in details this communication phenomenon is necessary to use empirical methodologies. The present project has as objective to investigate the interactions promoted by peripheral journalists in São Paulo starting from the Rede de Jornalistas das Periferias. This group was created in 2016 and it could be considered an association for professional collectives and independent journalists. A theoretical revision - theoretical discussion - and empirical research - empirical study - are the basis for this research that has as goal (1) to form a possible vision of what means be periphery and be peripheral and (2) to comprehend how this journalistic peripheral work is made.
