Gauge Theories and Non-Linear Phenomena

Abstract

The present research project uses techniques from integrable field theories and soliton theory to study non-linear phenomena and non-perturbative aspects of field theories of physical interest. It consists of three main topics: the connection between non-abelian gauge theories and integrable field theories in any dimension, deformations of exactly integrable soliton theories in (1+1)-dimensions that present the phenomenon of quasi-integrability, and the concept of self-duality applied to soliton solutions in low energy effective theories of the Skyrme type.
